Introduction

Robert Earl Burton founded The Fellowship of Friends in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1970. Burton modeled his own group after that of Alex Horn, loosely borrowing from the Fourth Way teachings of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky. In recent years, the Fellowship has cast its net more broadly, embracing any spiritual tradition that includes (or can be interpreted to include) the notion of "presence."

The Fellowship of Friends exhibits the hallmarks of a "doomsday religious cult," wherein Burton exercises absolute authority, and demands loyalty and obedience. He warns that his is the only path to consciousness and eternal life. Invoking his gift of prophecy, he has over the years prepared his flock for great calamities (e.g. a depression in 1984, the fall of California in 1998, nuclear holocaust in 2006, and most recently the October 2018 "Fall of California Redux.")

According to Burton, Armageddon still looms in our future and when it finally arrives, non-believers shall perish while, through the direct intervention and guidance from 44 angels (recently expanded to 81 angels, including himself and his divine father, Leonardo da Vinci), Burton and his followers shall be spared, founding a new and more perfect civilization. "Exposing The Fellowship of Friends Cult and Robert Burton the Crook"

"Exposing The Fellowship of Friends Cult and Robert Burton the Crook" videos were originally posted on Eric Costa's "Age of Gaia" YouTube channel (now defunct)

[ed. - Eric Costa (also known as "Ocean Tiger" - see below), a self-described former member of the Fellowship of Friends recently created an Age of Gaia YouTube channel (now defunct) which included a series of eight videos titled "Exposing the Fellowship of Friends Cult and Robert Burton the Crook."

Eric states that he was recruited in May 2012 and was an "official member" for one year and an "unofficial member" for five years, leaving the Fellowship in 2018. (The distinction between "official" and "unofficial" is unclear.) Costa lived at Apollo for one month and claims to have been part of the Fellowship's "inner circle."

In Part 1 (below), Costa speaks about the psychological effects of mind control within the cult, the Fellowship's training of "mind control handlers," and how this mind control led him to consider suicide.

In Part 2 (below), he describes his month at Apollo and attending 90 to 100 teaching events.

Part 3 (below) continues his narrative of life at Apollo, including the use there of "slave labor," and a description of how, on his final day in the cult, he disrupted a Fellowship meeting at the Galleria and confronted Robert Burton. Immediately following this, he was excommunicated and put on a train to Los Angeles.

On September 27, 2019, Costa posted a condensed version of the Fellowship of Friends story on YouTube (since removed.) And on February 1, 2020, Costa announced he would make his book, "Ocean Tiger on a Volcano" available to all. (See below.)]

Please be aware that I posted 9 hours of whistle-blowing of what is called on YouTube “Exposing Robert Burton and The Fellowship of Friends.” You’re chatting with someone who experienced firsthand and from others while living in Apollo/The Galleria the mind-control programming of using pets as a method for grooming and submission, including dogs and other animals. No I am not public relations, and yes I have a 300 page book being published in August with content never before posted anywhere.

“Introduction to The Introduction”

In September of 2019 I published a book called “Ocean Tiger on A Volcano” which describes my experience as both a former and ex-member of the Fellowship of Friends cult, and after 6 months of the book’s availability for purchase and after sending out dozens of emails to those who might benefit from reading the material, I found that fewer books than anticipated were ordered although 2 out of 3 books were sent to Oregon House, California. It then occurred to me that those whose butts are made of straw wouldn’t want to buy a book made of fire as indeed it is, and from then on I began sharing excerpts of the material to those who, with or without straw butts, received and are receiving the information. Now I will share on this wordpress excerpts from that book beginning from the beginning which follows immediately after this post and in the future time that follows. At first I wondered how so few people wanted to order the book, but then I began understanding that, on the one hand it would be purchased by accomplices, knowingly or unknowingly, of Robert Burton’s human trafficking organization who might rather not know the shocking truth of what their money went to, and on the other hand the current and/ex-members or family of those members who would certainly be triggered by the fact that the book outlines the cults mind control protocol connected with motives more sinister than once considered. And so to get to the point, the post following this one is the Introduction of my book “Ocean Tiger on A Volcano” with both contact information and a link to the book at the end. Thank You

The Moderator has informed me that to post the entirety of my book on the forum would be too much, which is true, and so here I’ve provided a link to the E-Book for free: [ed. - The free E-Book offer has apparently expired. The link is no longer valid.]

Also the original 8 Part audio story on YouTube is again up which includes in the description section a link to purchase the physical book and an email for contact. Thank You

[ed. - On page 83 of his book, Eric Costa provides the following clarification:]
"By the way, I read on ROBERTEARLBURTON.BLOGSPOT.COM [this site] when my original recordings were listed that I claimed to have been part of the inner circle, and in my recordings I did claim this. What I meant by that is: I moved within a circle of people that most of the international members never get to experience. Was I apart [sic] of the inner-string-pullers? No way. That is reserved for the handlers who are the REAL Inner Circle of this organization and they operate behind the scenes. The supposed inner circle of this organization are the young men who are under mind control, who are led to believe they're special by being so near the true and criminal Inner Circle. I was apart [sic] of the "inner circle" in the sense of getting to see the details of daily life at Apollo."

"Robert seems to want only Fellowship members to survive"

[ed. - In recent days, a photo has emerged showing a letter to the Oregon House community that mysteriously appeared on the bulletin board of the Oregon House post office last October 5th. At a meeting of the Fellowship of Friends congregation that same day, Robert Burton addressed the treasonous act. Beneath the photo and text of the letter are portions of a discussion at the time about Burton's prophecy. See also: Fellowship of Friends to its neighbors: "We are 'conscious beings.' You are not."]

Cult leader Robert Earl Burton only wants Fellowship of Friends members to survive
"We have the letter, but we don’t want to show it...some people just can’t keep a secret. They just got to yack.
The queen of hearts can’t keep a secret. And we are not together with unconscious citizens in Oregon House.
We are not in this all together. We’re with angels and conscious beings.” - Robert Earl Burton, October 5, 2018.

Text of letter:
October 5, 2018

Dear Oregon House friends and neighbors,

I am a member of the Fellowship of Friends. I need to remain anonymous, or risk being expelled.

I believe in the divinity of our leader, Robert Burton, and in his gift of prophesy. What I don't agree with is the Fellowship's position of not sharing Robert's prophesies with the larger, non-Fellowship, community. Robert seems to want only Fellowship members to survive what is coming.

Currently, Robert foresees a catastrophe occurring early in the morning of October 21.

That is a little over 2 weeks from now. He is being informed by a higher intelligence that California will fall into the ocean, and that the safe zone is above Loma Rica. More than 150 Fellowship members who live outside the area are planning to be in Oregon House during the next 3 weeks to witness the event. That in addition to over 500 members that already live in or near Oregon House.

I am sharing this information with you, which I believe to be true with all my heart, in order to put my conscience to rest. It is only right and fair that everyone receives this message, so you have the option of making preparations as you see fit, just as the Fellowship has been actively preparing for most of this year.

If you want more information, or to verify anything I have shared, you may try calling Fellowship President Greg Holman, at 692-2222, ext 8217. Note that he has not given his approval to be mentioned in this letter, and might not accept your phone call.

I wish everyone the best, firmly believing that wee will all be better, stronger, wiser and more compassionate as we get through this major trial together.

I am very worried! With Higher Forces indicating to Robert Earl Burton that California may fall into the Pacific Ocean just three weeks from now (October 21st), isn’t it the CIVIC DUTY of Robert Burton, Greg Holman, Ethan Harris, Rowena Taylor, Dorian Matei, Nicholas Spaulding, and others to spread the alarm, to advise local authorities, the California Office of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency? Will the Fellowship of Friends, who proclaim themselves “good neighbors,” secretly plan for a catastrophe, the likes of which haven’t been witnessed since the days of Noah, while keeping their friends and neighbors in the dark? Has Yuba County Supervisor Randy Fletcher been quietly alerted so that he and his loved ones can shelter at Apollo along with Fellowship members arriving from around the globe? And where is The Press? The Appeal Democrat, Sacramento Bee, and others should be all over this breaking story!

"Insider" wrote on the Fellowship of Friends Discussion blog, October 6, 2018:
An apocalypse update: Only 2 weeks to go before yet another “fall of California.” The big day is Sunday, Oct 21, early in the morning. Burton is predicting that the ocean will rise 800-900 feet, to about the level of nearby Loma Rica. Everything above that level will survive. 150 FF members from distant centers (especially Russia, Mexico and The Netherlands) will be visiting Apollo at that time, joining the 500+ already living in Oregon House. Burton is taking full financial advantage of the fear he himself has created by having 4 meetings per week (but soon to be 6 or 7), plus another 8 “teaching” events. If nothing else, the flock will be thoroughly fleeced by the time they return home on Oct 22.

"Insider" wrote on the Fellowship of Friends Discussion blog, October 10, 2018:
At a recent meeting, Robert spoke at some length about a letter that appeared on the bulletin board at the [Oregon House] post office. He seemed quite disturbed by this act of treason. Apparently the letter alerted the larger community to the Oct 21 “fall of California.” He thinks it was a lady, a FF [Fellowship of Friends] member, who “needs to be in the kings more.”

Here are some highlights of Burton’s rant (parenthetical comments are mine):

“They (non-members) don’t care about the prediction.”

“If it happens (the “fall”), they’ll probably want to get away as soon as they can, because they want a normal life style, get back to electricity and cities.” (Is Burton projecting here?)

“There will be an exodus, probably. Who would want to stay here? You could hardly get in and out of the place.” (Some members were shocked at these words. It sounds like Burton would be the first to leave.)

“There’s no harm, except it’s not a person’s job to do this (share the prediction with the community). It’s for the teacher or the Board, and you don’t want too many chiefs and not enough injuns (sic). If you multiply that times everyone in the room, it’s chaos.”

“Some people just can’t keep a secret. They just got to yack.”

“We are not together with unconscious citizens in Oregon House. We are NOT (emphasized) in this all together. We’re with angels and conscious beings (as he waves his arm and acknowledges everyone in the room).”

[ed. - A witness to the Fellowship of Friends meeting provided the full context for the above quotations. Very generally, Burton's use of "in the queens" refers to volatile emotional responses, and "in the kings" to disciplined intellectual responses.]
“Do you know that someone put out an anonymous letter about the Fellowship working with this date? At the post office, they tacked it up (I think it was a lady), and she was in the queens, thinking she was in the kings. Now the postmaster saw it and removed it immediately and gave it to Greg Holman. But the last time we had a prediction, students would go into the Oregon House Store and they said, “Well, we expected to see you coming here on Gondolas today.” They don’t care about the prediction. It’s out of the question, really. If it happens, they’ll probably want to get away as soon as they can because they want a normal life style, get back to electricity and cities. There will be an exodus, probably. Who would want to stay here? You could hardly get in and out of the place. It doesn’t hurt us, the letter. It’s just sincere but misguided. Yes, and the queens think they are the kings, but they’re not. They don’t have the depth. And there’s no harm, except it’s not a person’s job to do this. It’s for the teacher or the board, and you don’t want too many chiefs and not enough injuns. If you multiply that times everyone in the room, it’s chaos. But overall, you’re handling it quite well. And the person who wrote the letter needs to be in the kings more. We have the letter, but we don’t want to show it. It’s just.. Also, some people just can’t keep a secret. They just got to yack. The queen of hearts can’t keep a secret. And we are not together with unconscious citizens in Oregon House. We are not in this all together. We’re with angels and conscious beings.” - Robert Earl Burton, October 5, 2018

Celestial cognitive impairment?

Fellowship of Friends cult leader Robert Earl Burton, immersed in his bizarre vision of an earthly Paradise
Robert Earl Burton, immersed in his bizarre vision of an earthly Paradise

[ed. - Perhaps Robert Burton is receiving mixed messages from "Influence C" ("Higher Forces," the gods) or maybe his fading mental faculties are impairing his ability to translate these celestial signals.]

"Insider" wrote on the Fellowship of Friends Discussion blog, April 10, 2019:
Speaking of doubting: Two events happened in the past week that have a lot of followers wondering about Burton’s mental condition.

The first was an urgent announcement, which was the following:
“Dear friends around the world,

“Robert is now asking us to let go all of all records of all past teaching events up to the year 2019.

“Specifically, we are to throw away or permanently erase any pre-2019 teaching material (both center library material and personal collections, including daily cards, videos, printed material, and any electronic copies) produced by the Teacher or students in the school. However, this erasure does not include the published books authored by the Teacher, Self Remembering and Awakening, at this point.

“The Teacher explains that this is not the first time our school is undergoing a process of shedding; as we have been given the complete System, we want to pass it on as such to our ‘ascendents’ and not force them to reinvent the wheel. Moreover, the legacy of schools is a complete, finished product–and not the journey it took to get there.

“In relation to this, Robert quoted [Bernard] Berenson, who said, ‘A cultured man is the result of what he has forgotten.’

“Robert added: ‘For us, a cultured man is the result of what he has released, forgotten: the sequence. He has become the culture.'”
The very next day, just when his loyal followers were planning a massive bonfire of Daily Cards and Girard’s books, Burton withdrew the above directive without any explanation.

The second event, a day or two later, occurred at a meeting. First Burton made yet another prediction, that he would continue running the show only for 2 more years. He then woke up briefly, possibly prodded by Dorian, to realize that this contradicted what he had said a month or two earlier; and thus he changed the immediately-preceding prediction from 2 years to 10 years, no doubt to a huge collective sigh of relief from the believers in attendance (except for Dorian, who now has to continue wiping food from Burton’s beard for 10 more years).

[ed. - The following March 2019 video demonstrates Burton translating "Influence C's" messages in real time, struggling to mold reality to his fantasies. In this case, he attempts to match Bastille Day, July 14th, to the date of America's first atomic bomb blast, July 16, 1945. The test took place at Trinity Site (not Frenchman Flat, the Nevada test site Burton mentions.) The Frenchman Flat reference, however, leads to his ominous "tale of two cities" play on words, Lon-done and Par-ish. Near Alamogordo, New Mexico, not at Las Cruces, some 90 miles from Trinity Site. But Las Cruces supports his dystopian vision of humanity being crucified (while all dues-paying members are saved.) He goes on, "So there's a 44 in there..." (as Dorian shrugs and looks to change the subject.) In a script that's likely been followed many times before, Burton "learns" that the interval between Oppenheimer declaring, "It worked," and Burton "crystallizing" was 30 years, 30 being another magic number in Burton's teaching.]

From Fifty Years with Angels, p. 13
"This is a nice photograph of Rosemary Macdonald, who joined the school early on. We used to meet at her house, the Macdonald Farmhouse, in Vacaville. That is quite interesting because the atomic bomb was conceived and tested at McDonald's Ranch in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and divine presence, which is dropping the atomic bomb internally, was conceived at the Macdonald Farmhouse in Vacaville. The atomic bomb was also developed under the direction of a Robert - J. Robert Oppenheimer. It reflects the power of divine presence in an unconscious form whereas, in a conscious being, such as Buddha [or Robert Burton!], it is in conscious form, and it is controlled and eternal. What we were doing in Vacaville was conceiving atomic energy in conscious form - self-remembering."

[Note: The bomb was assembled and tested, not conceived, at McDonald Ranch, aka Trinity Site, which is about 160 miles from Los Alamos and about 90 miles from Las Cruces, which Burton (conjuring an esoteric significance) has also cited as the blast location.]

Robert Burton orders "erasure" of pre-2019 teaching materials

Robert Earl Burton Fellowship of Friends cult leader orders "erasure" of pre-2019 Fellowship publications
Fahrenheit 451 was published 66 years ago.
Fahrenheit 451, the film, was released in 1966.
Fellowship members will no doubt decipher a
hidden message in this "coincidence."
[ed. - Revealed today, the contents (below) of an April 4th Fellowship of Friends Council directive to the congregation. (See "Celestial cognitive impairment?" for word that Burton rescinded this directive one day later.)

The directive commands Fellowship members to destroy materials that they have purchased from the Fellowship of Friends, that is, their personal property.

(Note: the words "Robert is now asking..." is a euphemism for Robert Burton ordering his followers to obey his command. The use of such phrasing, and the clear understanding of its meaning, dates back to the earliest days of the Fellowship.)

Reminiscent of Ray Bradbury's nightmarish tale, Fahrenheit 451, such censorship imposed on an entire "church" congregation may raise legal concerns.

To Robert Earl Burton, it's Origin House, not Oregon House

[ed. - Robert Earl Burton is programming his followers to refer to Oregon House, California as "Origin House," the name Influence C (the gods) have suggested to him.]
"Travelers stopped here on their way to the state of Oregon and to the Columbia River. That is why it is called Oregon House. The word 'Oregon' in Oregon House may be a misunderstanding of the French word for 'origin.' We are origin here. We are original - we are present: Origin House." - Robert Earl Burton, Fifty Years with Angels, p.11
