Introduction

Robert Earl Burton founded The Fellowship of Friends in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1970. Burton modeled his own group after that of Alex Horn, loosely borrowing from the Fourth Way teachings of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky. In recent years, the Fellowship has cast its net more broadly, embracing any spiritual tradition that includes (or can be interpreted to include) the notion of "presence."

The Fellowship of Friends exhibits the hallmarks of a "doomsday religious cult," wherein Burton exercises absolute authority, and demands loyalty and obedience. He warns that his is the only path to consciousness and eternal life. Invoking his gift of prophecy, he has over the years prepared his flock for great calamities (e.g. a depression in 1984, the fall of California in 1998, nuclear holocaust in 2006, and most recently the October 2018 "Fall of California Redux.")

According to Burton, Armageddon still looms in our future and when it finally arrives, non-believers shall perish while, through the direct intervention and guidance from 44 angels (recently expanded to 81 angels, including himself and his divine father, Leonardo da Vinci), Burton and his followers shall be spared, founding a new and more perfect civilization. Girard Haven's fall from grace

"In particular, if he [Robert Earl Burton] knows what he is doing and we don’t, we have no basis for judging or doubting him. Instead, we simply have to trust him, as a child trusts his parents, or dog trusts its master. If he asks us to do things which seem to have no connection to awakening – or even to be ‘wrong’ – we have no choice but to do them anyway.” Girard Haven, Creating a Soul, page 576

[ed. - Apart from Robert Burton himself, and prior to announcements in recent years of younger, more attractive (male) conscious beings, Girard Haven, who joined the Fellowship in 1973, was regarded the Fellowship's only conscious member.

In the video below, Robert Burton publicly humiliates Haven, offering a glimpse into Burton's petty vindictiveness and thinly-veiled negativity, easily triggered by those who dare challenge his authority.

Girard offers the opinion that he did not think the painting being discussed is the work of Leonardo da Vinci. His comment is followed by uncomfortable giggles in the audience and, due to Burton's hearing impairment, Dorian Matei timidly repeating Haven's insolent words. Burton responds,
"Well, you know, I don't...myself, I don't judge if it's by Leonardo or not."
He then recalls a similar discussion,
"..and I said that I don't have an opinion on it, because I'm not qualified. I'm not a Leonardo scholar. I don't study Leonardo. And I didn't feel I had to guess. I didn't feel I had to guess and pretend I know. Didn't have an impulse like that."
Burton then proceeds to affirm the artist is either Leonardo da Vinci or Lorenzo di Credi. When Dorian informs him the artist is actually Boltraffio, Burton "artfully" adjusts his earlier expert opinion.]

"Ames Gilbert" wrote in the Fellowship of Friends Discussion blog, March 2, 2019:
Jeez, it’s hard to keep up. Latest news from the bowels of the criminal enterprise, a.k.a. The Fellowship of Friends, the cult headquartered in Oregon House, California, 95962.

Burton has decided: there are four future ‘conscious beings’.

They are:

Dorian Mattei, Sasha Shalapanov, Nitzan Nitzan, and Samuel Mercer (grandson of Maria Machado).
Fellowship of Friends/Apollo future conscious being Nitzan Nitzan and Steven Dambeck
"Future conscious being" (but only if he remains in the Fellowship) Nitzan Nitzan with Steven Dambeck

Samuel Mercer (Facebook). Conscious being in gestation?
Alert readers will quickly note that—wait for it, wait for it—Girard Haven is not on the list.

Great gallomphing goobers! I can hardly believe it myself.

After spending most of his adult life mooning after Burton, writing untold reams of rubbish about how to act more ‘conscious’, whole books of self–referential fluff justifying the actions of a loon (albeit, a ‘conscious’ loon), attempting to square the circle of the Fourth Way with the Precious Sequence™, being obedient and obsequious every moment of his life when not in front of a screen (o.k., this is a family blog)… amusing himself—and being rewarded for all this by being anointed as a ‘Man #5…

… and then having even this meagre recognition denied him? Where is the justice? Why the humiliation? It seems so unnecessary and gratuitous and cruel.

I ‘sorta’ feel for him.

But don’t worry, my source tells me that Girard is taking it well. He has nobly accepted the word of his Master, who has once again treated him as lower than a dog.

This begs the question: what about ‘Solartype’, ‘William’, ‘Nicolas Walker™’, and the rest?
Too bad, you are all ‘in imagination’. The eighty–first angel has announced The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing But The Truth.

You are mere pretenders, frauds, all of you.

Robert Earl Burton, God–Emperor of Oregon House, has spoken.

So. Be. It and So. It. Is.

Until, at a guess, next week.

Divine Geometry (as only Robert Earl Burton can see it)

[ed. - At a recent meeting during the Spring Journey Forth to Apollo celebration, Robert Earl Burton obsessively opined on the esoteric significance of Leonardo da Vinci's work, revealing hidden messages that, likely, even Leonardo failed to recognize. C Influence even included a touch of Divine Comedy (second and third videos).]

(Note that even the video stream "buffers" in embarrassment.)

(For those who missed it, in his "iwannacheckyourzipper" video, "Shard Oblivion" has some fun at The Teacher's expense:)

Narcissism on display in the gilded worlds of Trump and Burton

"All cults come to an end, often abruptly, and Trump’s Republican Party is nothing if not a cult. While cult leaders are generally incapable of remorse — whether they be totalitarian rulers, sexual Svengalis, or the self-declared messiahs of crackpot religions — their followers almost always pay a human and reputational price once the leader is toppled. We don’t know how and when Donald Trump will exit, but under any scenario it won’t be later than January 20, 2025. Even were he to be gone tomorrow, the legacy of his most powerful and servile collaborators is already indelibly bound to his."
- Frank Rich, New York Magazine

Spring Journey Forth to Apollo 2019

[ed. - The Fellowship's "Spring Journey Forth to Apollo" is one of several annual gatherings of the faithful at their Oregon House compound. The highlight of the Spring Festival is the anniversary of Robert Earl Burton's reported "crystallization" as a "conscious being" way back on March 19, 1976. Quite possibly the most historic event to have occurred in Oregon House, the miraculous achievement was witnessed only by Burton and, we may assume, Leonardo da Vinci (and possibly others from among Burton's 44 angels.)

Though it is quite "mechanical" to count such things, the name "Robert" appears 28 times (4 x 7) in the Spring Festival schedule. One might be led to the notion that, indeed, the Fellowship is All About Robert. Still, for someone approaching 80 years of age, this demanding schedule demonstrates Burton's remarkable ability to tirelessly speak of himself and the divine mission for which he was chosen. As he frequently reminds followers, he plays a singular role among the "eight billion" people in the universe.]

Robert Earl Burton's Fellowship of Friends cult Journey Forth to Apollo

[ed. - Robert Burton loves to celebrate Valentine’s Day with his coterie of young men. (Thus, Linda Kaplan has recently stated that the Fellowship now celebrates two Valentine’s Days each year.) The 2019 Apollo events schedule below shows how the Spring Journey Forth and other milestones in The Life of Robert Earl Burton figure into Apollo's annual celebrations.
